I
hint of filigree,
a thread of presence folds
into darkness.
Like draped silk,
a whisper of air
folds into silence.
there…/…not there.
II
Sounds like
Ed Blackwell, and Max Roach
are gi’en it laldy in the park’s municipal bin.
Ane of thae big green wheely numbers
pitchin’ and pulsatin’
wi polyrhythmic paradiddles.
Then oot! vertical!
two squirrel’s explode
through the brushes,
an aff wi the spoils.
III
A night sky of
deep darkness
soaking in the light
as stars sigh.
A crescent of moon
resists and smiles
as Venus breathes.
IV
Magical, Moondog moonbeams of metre. Celestial songs and canons.
(After the Art Ensemble of Fife, Duglas T Stewart and Davie Scott’s wonderful Moondog evening at The Fife Jazz Festival).
